Division 2 graduate nurse program

Who is eligible?

The Division Two Graduate Nurse Program at St Vincents & Mercy Private Hospital is offered to Division Two Graduates. These Graduates have completed a twelve month Certificate 4 in Health (Nursing) resulting in successfully gaining registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria as a Division Two Registered Nurse within the last twelve months.

What is the program?

The Overall Aims and Objective of the Graduate Nurse Program are to enable participants to transfer existing knowledge into quality patient outcomes and enabling participants to gather the knowledge, skills and resources to progress with their own independent learning and practices.

There will be two six-month rotations on this program. Students are placed in most departments, including Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, ENT, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Urology, Plastics and Cardiac.

Support consists of Clinical Coaches who are supernumerary and located in the ward areas. An Education Consultant is responsible for the program overall. There are four paid study days over the course of the program, as well as access to regular ward in service sessions and twilight seminars.  Supernumerary time is allocated on wards upon commencement of the program, and when Graduates change wards.
