At St Vincents and Mercy Private, rooming-in is encouraged so your baby will be with you for the majority of the time. The notion of a night settling room is thoughtful and well conceived, addressing women’s need for rest during their immediate post natal period, but with a focus on promoting early infant bonding and the establishment of breast feeding.
The night settling room is staffed by our experienced Mothercraft nurses who are available to settle babies in the Night Settling Room before returning them to their Mothers.
Through assistance and education we hope to empower new mothers to make the transition from hospital to home as easy as possible

Your stay in hospital is a time to get to know your baby.
Parent craft education is one on one and is provided by our nursing/midwifery staff. While you are in hospital, we encourage you to rest as much as possible. A rest hour is scheduled each day between 11am–12noon.
Relatives and friends are asked to refrain from visiting you at this time and we request that they adhere to the visiting hours of 2–4pm and 7–8pm.
