The Division Two Acute Program at St Vincents & Mercy Private Hospital is offered to Registered Nurses Division Two. The applicants must have completed the Certificate 4 in Health (Nursing) resulting in successfully gaining registration with the Nurses Board of Victoria as a Division Two Registered Nurse.
The Overall Aims and Objective of the Acute Program is to enable participants to transfer existing knowledge into quality patient outcomes and enabling participants to gather the knowledge, skills and resources to progress with their own independent learning and practices.
The program is aimed at the newly registered Division 2 nurse or Division 2 Nurses wanting make the transition to the Acute Care setting.
The program is 6 months duration. Students are placed on one ward for the program in a variety of departments, including Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, ENT, Gynaecology, Urology, Plastics and Cardiac.
Support consists of Clinical Coaches who are supernumerary and located in the ward areas. An Education Consultant is responsible for the program overall. There are four paid study days over the course of the program, as well as access to regular ward in service sessions and free twilight seminars. Supernumerary time is allocated on wards upon commencement of the program.
The next intake will be July/August 2010.
