The goal of the Education & Professional Development Unit is facilitate ongoing training and education for all staff at the hospital.
With a team of 34 education consultants and clinical coaches, together with administrative support, the unit offers multi-disciplinary educational opportunities throughout the organisation.
The education consultants have an important role developing programs and co-ordinating of specific courses. Clinical coaches are ward based and act as role models/mentors to guide and support staff to achieve best clinical practice with a focus on graduate nurses/undergraduates, new and existing staff.
In addition to the Graduate Nurse Program and the Division One and Enrolled Nurse programs, we collaborate with universities to provide a range of undergraduate clinical placements and post graduate studies in intensive care, perioperative, anaesthetics, midwifery, plastics and reconstruction, neurosciences, orthopedics, cardiac and interventional cardiology.
Our education team is recognized as leaders in Australian health care. We have been recently awarded that highest level of recognition by The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards EQuIP accreditation process- an Outstanding Achievement rating.
